What does it mean to be a Preferred Contractor?

You can only be eligible for a PREFERRED PROTECTION warranty by using an OWENS CORNING PREFERRED CONTRACTOR. The biggest difference in the warranty is that if there were to be a problem, the preferred protection warranty covers both material and labor in the prorated period instead of just materials. The standard warranty’s for shingles are about the same for all of the different shingle manufacturers. To be honest, the Standard Warranty really isn’t very good and here’s why:

• $10,000 replacement cost of roof, of which $5,000 are materials
• Let’s say it’s a 15 year old roof with a 30 year shingle on it, therefore it would be prorated at 50%
• Owens Corning would pay you 50% of the $5,000 materials only or $2,500 to replace your roof that is going to cost $10,000, so you have to come up with the other $7,500!
